The handwritten copy of the Quran, written from memory, by Shaykh Abdullah Qadi of Indonesia (aka ‘Tuan Guru’) while he was enslaved by the Dutch as a political prisoner in South Africa in the 1790s. Tuan Guru is the founder of the first mosque in Cape Town.
